From Research to Practice: Data and AI Case Studies in the Pharmaceutical and Retail Industries

André Ditomaso

Time: Thursday, September 10, 2026 • 9:00 AM – 9:30 AM.
Location: Fernão Auditorium.

Abstract: Applying artificial intelligence in production environments requires more than technical expertise: it requires the ability to translate real business problems into viable, tested, and sustainable solutions. Moreover, before thinking about artificial intelligence, it is necessary to think about data. In this talk, the speaker presents practical case studies of projects in which the data and AI journey was carried out in the pharmaceutical and retail industries, discussing the challenges encountered during implementation and the results achieved. Drawing on his dual trajectory as both researcher and entrepreneur, the speaker also offers a reflection on how academic research can connect with the technology market, shortening the path between theoretical innovation and practical adoption by companies.

Bio: André Ditomaso is Country Manager at Marlabs in Brazil, a company he joined in 2023 through the acquisition of Monitora Soluções Tecnológicas, a company he founded in São Carlos in 2010 and led for 13 years, serving clients in Brazil, Europe, and the USA on projects in software engineering, innovation, data, and artificial intelligence. With more than 20 years of experience in technology, academia, and business, André has also been a professor at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of São Paulo (IFSP) since 2009, and holds a PhD in Computer Science from UFSCar, with research in requirements engineering and artificial intelligence, as well as a master’s degree in Software Engineering from the same institution. This combination of academic and business experience, and the bridge between research and the market, is what he intends to share in the talk.

Building AI Agents for 100M+ Customers

Edesio Alcobaça

Time: Thursday, September 10, 2026 • 9:30 AM – 10:00 AM.
Location: Fernão Auditorium.

Abstract: What does it take to move AI agents from promising prototypes to production systems capable of serving more than 100 million customers? And how can this be achieved while also improving customer satisfaction? At Nubank, these questions guide how we build, evaluate, and evolve our agents. In this talk, we will share the journey behind an evaluation-driven framework that brings together structured context, reliable tools, human feedback, automated evaluation, and controlled experimentation. We will explore the practical challenges that arise when agents must understand real customer needs, take meaningful actions, and continuously evolve while preserving customer trust and satisfaction.

How Does an AI Agent Navigate Your Database?

André Ditomaso

Time: Thursday, September 10, 2026 • 2:00 PM – 2:30 PM.
Location: Fernão Auditorium.

Abstract: In this session, we will share what we have learned at Nubank while building an AI agent for data analysis. We will discuss how an AI agent can “understand” the structure and context of a database, enabling users to generate queries and perform analyses using natural language. The talk will highlight the key challenges, design decisions, and practical lessons involved in connecting AI agents to data environments in a way that makes analytical workflows more accessible and effective.

Agent Development Lifecycle at iFood

Matheus Raeski

Time: Thursday, September 10, 2026 • 2:30 PM – 3:00 PM.
Location: Fernão Auditorium.

Abstract: In this presentation, the speaker will show how iFood takes AI agents from development to production using the ADLC (Agent Development Life Cycle) as its foundation. The lifecycle organizes the work into five stages: development, execution and deployment, evaluation and quality, cost and impact, and maturity assessment. The speaker will open up iFood’s “kitchen” to demonstrate how the company applies this development lifecycle through a dedicated platform.

Bio: Matheus Raeski has been a Data Engineer at iFood for four years. As part of the Agent Platform team, he is responsible for the development lifecycle of the company’s AI agents, from data governance to evaluating their behavior in production. He holds a degree in Information Systems and a postgraduate degree in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, with 10 years of professional experience in the field.
