SBBD minicourses are short-duration events aimed at providing either an introductory or advanced overview of current research and/or technology topics of interest to the Database community. Through these activities, participants have the opportunity to learn about new subjects related to their field of practice and to extract elements that can be applied to their scientific studies and/or professional activities.
Minicourses must have a duration of 4 hours and be presented in Portuguese or English. The target audience includes undergraduate and graduate students, as well as professionals from the field in general.
Minicourse submission deadline: March 31, 2026
Acceptance notification: April 15, 2026
Final version submission: June 15, 2026
Initial proposals must be limited to 5 (five) pages, using the SBC book chapter template
(https://www.sbc.org.br/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/modeloparapublicaodecaptulosdelivros.zip), and must include:
Minicourse proposals must be submitted directly by email to dimas.cassimiro@ufape.edu.br, with the subject line “[SBBD2026] Minicourse Proposal Submission”. The email must include the identification of the author(s) and a PDF attachment containing the minicourse proposal. Proposals will be evaluated according to their originality, relevance, presentation quality, and alignment with the target audience.
Accepted initial proposals will proceed to a second phase, in which they must be expanded into a more detailed text of at least 20 pages and at most 30 pages. This text will be published in the format of a book chapter. The final chapter formats will be communicated directly to the authors. Any questions regarding minicourse submissions should be sent to dimas.cassimiro@ufape.edu.br.
If resources are available, one of the authors may receive financial support for travel and accommodation in order to present the minicourse. In the absence of sufficient resources to support all selected authors, the event organization will establish criteria for allocating the available support so as to cover as many proposals as possible, and authors will be informed at the time of final version submission. At least one author of the minicourse must be registered for the symposium, preferably the presenter.
