About

41st brazilian symposium on databases

The Brazilian Symposium on Databases (SBBD) is promoted and organized by the Special Committee on Databases (CEBD) of the Brazilian Computer Society (SBC). In 2026, SBBD will be held at the University of São Paulo (USP), São Carlos campus — a city nationally recognized as the Capital of Technology for hosting major universities, research centers, and high-tech industry.

Databases

Advances in database technologies underpin scientific, corporate, and governmental applications. SBBD discusses innovations in data models, management systems, indexing, performance, and reliability, bridging theory and large-scale applications.

Data Science

The field integrates statistics, machine learning, and computing to transform data into knowledge. At SBBD, emphasis is placed on methodologies, experimentation, model evaluation, and applications that generate social, scientific, and industrial impact.

Data Engineering

Data engineering focuses on the construction of pipelines, architectures, and ecosystems that ensure accessible, reliable, and scalable data. SBBD addresses modern practices in distributed processing, data integration, quality, and governance.

BIG DATA

Big Data involves techniques and systems capable of processing massive, diverse, and high-velocity data. The event brings together research on distributed architectures, large-scale analytics, IoT, cloud computing, stream databases, and high-demand–oriented applications.

Main Research AREAS of SBBD

SBBD
EVENTS

workshops

Workshops provide an interactive space for sharing emerging proposals and for discussing promising research directions related to the areas covered by SBBD.

minicourses

SBBD minicourses consist of focused sessions that provide either an introduction to or an in-depth exploration of contemporary research and technology topics relevant to the Database community.

Tutorials

Tutorial sessions serve as technical update sessions, focused on the structured presentation of emerging concepts and practices, rather than on traditional textbook content.

Main Track

The Main Track brings together full papers and short papers, encompassing research, vision, and industrial application contributions across all topics of interest to SBBD. Full papers present consolidated results, while short papers describe initial findings or work in progress, following the same category structure.

Demos e Applications

The Demos and Applications Session of SBBD 2026 aims to bring together researchers, professionals, and developers from academia and industry who are interested in demonstrating systems, prototypes, or tools that address concrete challenges related to data and information management and processing.
