For the 2021 edition, SBBD will accept Full, Short, Vision, Industrial, JIDM Papers, and Distinguished Papers for presentation. This year, papers submitted in the category Full will be judged through double-blind reviewing, where the identities of the authors are concealed from the reviewers, and the identities of the reviewers are hidden from the authors. INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMISSION

FULL PAPERS

Submissions in this category should present research results and discussion in any of the SBBD topics of interest. Full papers submitted to SBBD must not have been simultaneously submitted to any other forum (conference or journal), nor have already been published elsewhere.

The acceptance of a paper implies that at least one of its authors will register for the symposium to present it. Submitted papers will be reviewed based on originality, relevance, technical soundness, and clarity of presentation.

SBBD will have a two-round review process where the authors get to see a first version of the reviews and are allowed to write a rebuttal to defend their paper against the comments of the reviewers. In the rebuttal, the authors may propose to do a few things to fix small problems in the paper for the final camera-ready version of the paper. Full papers must be written in Portuguese or English and not exceed 12 pages, according to the SBC template.

The templates for submission are available here. Papers must be submitted by the deadline through the JEMS website. Questions regarding FULL paper submission should be directed to the ricardo.torres@ntnu.no.

Program Chair: Ricardo Torres (NTNU, Norway)

Short-Vision-Industrial Chair: Damires Souza (IFPB, Brazil)

SHORT PAPERS

Submissions in this category should present initial results or ongoing work in any of the SBBD topics of interest. Short papers submitted to SBBD must not have been simultaneously submitted to any other forum (conference or journal), nor should they have already been published elsewhere. Submitted papers will be reviewed based on originality, relevance, technical soundness, and clarity of presentation.

VISION PAPERS

Submissions in this category should describe visionary ideas to be presented at the conference. Vision papers should present new problems, new application domains, or new methodologies that are likely to stimulate significant new research. Vision papers are supposed to convince the audience that the idea at hand is valid and worth listening to, without the need to present completed research work and/or validated results. Thus, research results and experiment descriptions are not required in this type of submission. Submitted papers will be reviewed based on originality, relevance, technical soundness, and clarity of presentation

INDUSTRIAL OR APPLIED PAPERS

Submissions in this category should present papers describing original contributions in developing and applying data management technologies towards the myriad of real-world problems. Real-world problems may be arisen from Industry, Society, Government, or Scientific Community. Industrial or applied papers submitted to SBBD must not have been simultaneously submitted to any other forum (conference or journal), nor should they have already been published elsewhere. Submitted papers will be reviewed based on innovation context and potential, technical soundness, and clarity of presentation.

JIDM AND DISTINGUISHED PAPERS

JIDM PAPERS

Authors of papers that are accepted for JIDM publication from September 2020 until August 2021 will be invited to present their paper during SBBD 2021. They must be written in English and formatted according to the JIDM template. Submissions will be judged by the JIDM editorial board and are made continuously throughout the year.

The templates for submission are available here. Questions regarding JIDM paper submission should be directed to ricardo.torres@ntnu.no and maristela.holanda@gmail.com.

DISTINGUISHED PUBLISHED PAPERS

Submissions in this category should be papers relevant to the conference topics and published or accepted for publication as full papers in 2020 or 2021 by a highly competitive conference or journal in the large database area. They will be accepted/rejected by the SBBD Steering Committee on the grounds of relevance and quality of the original publication venue.

These papers will not appear in the conference proceedings and thus cannot be considered as a new publication. The paper can be submitted “as is”, indicating explicitly the place where the work was published. This category aims to attract the best papers of the Brazilian community and give their authors the opportunity to present their work.

Papers must be submitted by email to ricardo.torres@ntnu.no with the subject[SBBD2020 Submission] Distinguished Published Paper”.
