About

SBBD is the leading scientific conference on big data, engineering, and data science in Brazil and Latin America, held by the Brazilian Computing Society (a non-profit scientific entity). The event's purpose is to be a forum for discussing recent topics on data handling and its importance in current applications, such as its use in artificial intelligence models. The event brings together students, researchers, professionals, government, and society to disseminate and discuss research and innovation results in the context of data-driven solutions.

Specifically, the event:

  • enables the dissemination of work carried out by research groups in technical-scientific sessions, with discussions that enable the advancement of basic and applied scientific research
  • publishes excellent work by master's and doctoral students in the BD Thesis and Dissertation Competition;
  • allows the discussion of Postgraduate work ongoing through the Theses and Dissertations Workshop, with a panel made up of experienced researchers;
  • allows the demonstration of prototypes through the Demos Session, where students present innovative software produced in the labs of research; and
  • brings international researchers, enabling interaction and opening doors for exchanges, partnerships, and international projects, boosting the creation of disruptive technologies.

Carrying out the SBBD has an impact on raising awareness of the importance of this type of activity in the training of junior researchers. Graduate and Undergraduate Students have reported that participating in events brings energy, motivation, excitement, and many new ideas. Students feel excited about their research when they return from events where they can brainstorm with renowned researchers who participate in international events and bring the latest innovations to SBBD. SBBD allows for a unique way of immersing yourself in the topics discussed.
