SBBD 2019 PRESENTATION
The Brazilian Database Symposium (SBBD) is the official event of the of the Brazilian Computer Society (SBC) and the largest event in Latin America for presentation and discussion of search results related to the area. The SBBD researchers, students and professionals from Brazil and abroad, to discuss themes related to the latest advances in the Bank area of Data. In addition to technical sessions, the symposium also includes lectures invited guests, thesis and dissertation workshop, demos session and tools, tutorials and mini-courses presented by researchers of renowned national and international community.
In its 34th edition, the SBBD will be held from 7 to 10 October 2019 in the city of Fortaleza, Ceará. This year, SBBD will be organized by Federal University of Ceará (UFC) and the Centro Universitário 7 de September (UNI7).
IMPORTANT DATES
- Deadline for submission of mini-course proposals:
May 17, 2019(HARD DEADLINE: May 24, 2019); - Notification of acceptance: June 21, 2019;
- Submission of the final version (slides and text): July 31, 2019.
SBBD 2019 SHORT COURSES
The mini-courses of the SBBD are short-term events aimed at provide an introductory or advanced overview of current research and / or technology that are of interest to the communities of Database. With this, the listener has the opportunity to learn on a new subject linked to its area of extract elements that can be applied in their scientific studies and / or profession. The mini-courses should be 4 hours long and presented in Portuguese or English, with the target audience being students from undergraduate, postgraduate and / or area professionals.
INSTRUCTIONS AND SUBMISSION
Initial proposals should be limited to 5 (five) pages in the template of SBC’s book chapter, including:
- title of mini-course;
- authors (maximum 3);
- abstract (up to 200 words);
- indication of target audience (for proposals with a
- interdisciplinary), with specification and justification of
- prerequisites;
- text summary with a description for each of the summary topics;
- indication of why the course is interesting and should attract attention;
- the target audience;
- brief curriculum of the authors;
- indication of which author will present the course;
- the necessary computational and audiovisual resources.
The submission of mini-course proposals must be carried out directly by email to [maryoko at gmail.com] with subject “[SBBD2019] Submission of Mini-Resource Proposal “. In the email must include the identification of the author (s) and a file as an attachment, in PDF format, with the mini-course proposal. It is recommended that the file does not exceed 2MB, although the submission of larger files is also possible. Proposals will be evaluated according to their originality, relevance, presentation and affinity with the target audience.
The initial proposals accepted will participate in a new phase, in which should be more detailed in a text with a minimum of 20 pages and maximum of 30 pages. The text will be published in the chapter format of book by SBC.
FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR AUTHORS
Depending on the availability of resources, one of the authors may receive help to present the mini-course. In the absence of sufficient resources for all selected authors, the organization of mini-courses will establish the criteria for the distribution of aid, in order to cover as many proposals as possible,
informing the authors at the time of submission of the final version. At least an author of the mini-course must enroll in SBBD 2019, preferably the speaker.
The organization of mini-courses reserves the right to refuse proposals and include invited proposals, according to their of internal viability, always respecting the main objectives of the and SBBD 2019.
