Praia do Futuro

Praia do Futuro is one of Fortaleza’s most famous beaches, known for its beach bars (barracas) with excellent seaside restaurant infrastructure. We recommend the following:

Crocobeach – One of the largest and most structured, with pools, good food and cultural programming.
Guarderia – Trendy atmosphere and good music.
Órbita Blue – Modern beach club vibes with a chill mood.
Chico do Caranguejo – Famous for its delicious crab dishes, it also offers cultural programming and has great pools for kids to enjoy.
Terra do Sol – Perfect for families, with excellent infrastructure for kids to play and have fun safely.
Atlantidz – A sophisticated spot, perfect for those looking to enjoy great food and drinks in a stylish beachfront setting.
Cala Playa – Known for its good food and excellent drinks.
Arpão – Offers delicious food in a laid-back atmosphere.

We recommend visiting Praia do Futuro during the day. At night, the beach is mostly lively on Thursdays, when the famous “Quinta do Caranguejo” takes place – a crab night featuring live music and comedy shows.

Bourbon ()  Local tip: Good accommodations, average breakfast, great location, sea view, modest pool.
 
Iate Plaza Hotel ()  Local tip: The rooms are dated but spacious, offering sea view. The breakfast is good and the pool area is excellent. Located next to the fish market, the hotel’s location on Beira Mar Avenue isn’t the best, but it provides great value for money.
 
Hotel Praia Centro ()  Local tip: Located near Beira Mar Avenue, with good accommodations, a nice breakfast, a great pool and excellent value for money.
Ibis ()  Local tip: Located near Beira Mar, offering great value for money.

Ibis Budget ()  Local tip: The rooms are quite small, but the price is reasonable. The location, however, is not the best.

Mercado Central e Feirinha da Beira-Mar – Places to buy handicrafts, lace, chestnuts, and typical Ceará souvenirs.
Praia de Iracema – One of the busiest beaches at night. Visit the Ponte dos Ingleses (known as the Metal Bridge).

Icaraí de Amontada (196 km de Fortaleza)

Known for its peaceful and beautiful beaches, great food and strong winds ideal for kitesurfing (mainly in September).

Local tip: Stay in charming bungalows with ocean-view and take a boat ride on the Aracatiaçu River.

Flecheiras (140 km de Fortaleza)

A calm beach with natural pools, ideal for relaxing.

Local tip: Book a beachfront inn or airbnb house in a seaside condo.

Águas Belas (64 km de Fortaleza)

A stunning beach where the river meets the sea, offering calm waters and a peaceful vibe. 

Local tip: We recommend Hotel Varandas.

Beach Park (25 km de Fortaleza)

One of the largest water parks in Latin America, located just minutes from Fortaleza. You can visit the park, stay at one of the hotels in the complex or simply enjoy the beautiful Porto das Dunas beach.

Local tip: If you book an Airbnb within one of the Beach Park hotels (Acqua, Wellness, Suites or Oceani), you can access the hotel infrastructure (including restaurants) and enter the water park one hour before general opening time — no lines!

Quixadá (168km de Fortaleza)

An enchanting destination in the heart of Ceará’s backlands. Surrounded by towering rock formations and scenic trails, it’s a perfect mix of adventure and contemplation. It’s the home of the Information Technology Campus of the Federal University of Ceará (UFC). 

Local tip: Visit the Açude do Cedro, admire the iconic Pedra da Galinha Choca and enjoy an unforgettable sunset among the rocks — simply magical!

Guaramiranga (106km de Fortaleza)

A charming city in the Serra de Baturité, known for its mild climate and Atlantic Forest vegetation. It’s the perfect destination for those seeking tranquility, delicious cuisine, scenic hikes and refreshing waterfalls.

Local tip: Stay in a cozy inn downtown or nestled in nature. Visit Pico Alto — Ceará’s highest point at 1,115 meters — perfect for watching the sunset above the clouds – and Jesuit Monastery, a very historic spot.

Região do Cariri (cerca de 500km de Fortaleza)

Located in the southern part of Ceará, the Cariri region is rich in history and spirituality with Juazeiro do Norte, Crato and Barbalha as its main cities.

Local tip: Key attractions are Chapada do Araripe, with its lush biodiversity and paleontological sites and the Geopark Araripe, recognized by UNESCO for its scientific and ecological importance.
