With this purpose, DS4SG will bring together professionals from different branches of Data Science research and will cover a wide variety of application domains, providing a forum to share initiatives and create collaboration opportunities for future work. In this sense, DS4SG seeks to attract papers that present Data Science methods and applications oriented towards Social Good \u2014 that is, aiming to address important and urgent challenges of contemporary society. Multidisciplinary work is strongly encouraged, involving not only computing, but also other fields of knowledge such as sociology, journalism, law, theology, among others.<\/p>\n<h2>Topics of Interest<\/h2>\n<p>Particularly relevant topics include, but are not limited to:<br \/>\nCombating environmental crimes<br \/>\nPublic safety<br \/>\nDisaster relief<br \/>\nUrban mobility<br \/>\nAccess to food, water, sanitation, and basic services<br \/>\nEfficiency and sustainability<br \/>\nClimate change<br \/>\nData journalism<br \/>\nSmart city services<br \/>\nEducation<br \/>\nSocial services, unemployment, and homelessness<br \/>\nHealth and well-being<br \/>\nSupport for people with disabilities<br \/>\nResponsible consumption and production<br \/>\nGender equality<br \/>\nDiscrimination against minorities<br \/>\nEthical issues, justice, and accountability<br \/>\nTrustworthiness, interpretability, and algorithmic non-discrimination<br \/>\nDemocracy, political activism, and digital militias<br \/>\nSocial network mining<br \/>\nInformation dissemination in social networks<br \/>\nSocial reputation, influence, and trust<br \/>\nRumors and viral marketing in social networks<br \/>\nModeling social behavior<br \/>\nSocial recommender systems<br \/>\nSecurity and privacy in social contexts<br \/>\nSentiment analysis and opinion mining<br \/>\nDisinformation and deep fakes<br \/>\nPrediction of social events (cyberbullying and cyberterrorism)<br \/>\nAgroecological food production<br \/>\nPublic access to science, technology, and innovation<br \/>\nFinancial sustainability of populations<\/p>\n<h2>Submission<\/h2>\n<p>Papers submitted to DS4SG must be written in Portuguese, English, or Spanish, must include an abstract in English, follow the SBC format, be between 6 and 10 pages, and must be submitted electronically in PDF format via JEMS.<\/p>\n<p>Submissions will be evaluated based on the following criteria: alignment with DS4SG\u2019s scope, relevance, technical quality, originality, and clarity. Papers describing preliminary and ongoing work are also welcome. Results are desirable but not mandatory. All papers must include a related work section. All submissions will undergo peer review, and selected papers will be published in the proceedings and must be presented live during the in-person workshop. Therefore, at least one author must be registered for SBBD\/DS4SG and present the selected paper.
