These short courses offer participants the opportunity to learn about a new subject related to their field and to extract elements that can be applied in their scientific studies and\/or professional activities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"572\" data-end=\"768\">Short courses should be <strong data-start=\"596\" data-end=\"612\">4 hours long<\/strong> and may be presented in <strong data-start=\"637\" data-end=\"662\">Portuguese or English<\/strong>. The audience can includes undergraduate and graduate students, as well as professionals in the field.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"\" data-start=\"770\" data-end=\"773\" \/>\n<h2 data-start=\"775\" data-end=\"794\"><strong data-start=\"775\" data-end=\"794\">Important Dates<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul data-start=\"796\" data-end=\"948\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"796\" data-end=\"850\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"798\" data-end=\"850\"><strong data-start=\"798\" data-end=\"835\">Short course submission deadline:<\/strong> June 02, 2025<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"851\" data-end=\"899\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"853\" data-end=\"899\"><strong data-start=\"853\" data-end=\"884\">Notification of acceptance:<\/strong> June 16, 2025<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"900\" data-end=\"948\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"902\" data-end=\"948\"><strong data-start=\"902\" data-end=\"931\">Final version submission:<\/strong> August 14, 2025<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr class=\"\" data-start=\"950\" data-end=\"953\" \/>\n<h2 data-start=\"955\" data-end=\"982\"><strong data-start=\"955\" data-end=\"982\">Submission Instructions<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"984\" data-end=\"1370\">Initial proposals must be limited to <strong data-start=\"1021\" data-end=\"1039\">5 (five) pages<\/strong>, using the SBC book chapter template<br data-start=\"1076\" data-end=\"1079\" \/>(<a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sbc.org.br\/documentos-da-sbc\/summary\/169-templates-para-artigos-e-capitulos-de-livros\/878-modelosparapublicacaodeartigos\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener\" data-start=\"1080\" data-end=\"1348\">https:\/\/www.sbc.org.br\/documentos-da-sbc\/summary\/169-templates-para-artigos-e-capitulos-de-livros\/878-modelosparapublicacaodeartigos<\/a>), and should include:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1372\" data-end=\"1886\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1372\" data-end=\"1401\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1374\" data-end=\"1401\">Title of the short course<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1402\" data-end=\"1413\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1404\" data-end=\"1413\">Authors<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1414\" data-end=\"1444\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1416\" data-end=\"1444\">Abstract (up to 200 words)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1445\" data-end=\"1587\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1447\" data-end=\"1587\">Indication of the audience (especially for interdisciplinary proposals), including specification and justification of prerequisites<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1588\" data-end=\"1648\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1590\" data-end=\"1648\">Table of contents with a brief description of each topic<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1649\" data-end=\"1742\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1651\" data-end=\"1742\">Explanation of why the short course is interesting and should attract the target audience<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1743\" data-end=\"1772\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1745\" data-end=\"1772\">Brief bios of the authors<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1773\" data-end=\"1833\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1775\" data-end=\"1833\">Indication of which author will present the short course<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1834\" data-end=\"1886\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1836\" data-end=\"1886\">Required computational and audiovisual resources<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1888\" data-end=\"2272\">Short course proposals must be submitted <strong data-start=\"1929\" data-end=\"1941\">by email<\/strong> to <strong data-start=\"1945\" data-end=\"1967\"><a rel=\"noopener\" data-start=\"1947\" data-end=\"1965\">duarte@uffs.edu.br<\/a><\/strong>, with the subject:<br data-start=\"1986\" data-end=\"1989\" \/><strong data-start=\"1989\" data-end=\"2038\">&#8220;[SBBD2025] Short Course Proposal Submission&#8221;<\/strong>. The email should include the identification of the author(s) and a PDF file containing the proposal as an attachment. Proposals will be evaluated based on originality, relevance, presentation, and alignment with the target audience.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2274\" data-end=\"2661\">Accepted initial proposals will proceed to a second phase, in which they must be expanded into a full text with <strong data-start=\"2386\" data-end=\"2431\">a minimum of 20 and a maximum of 30 pages<\/strong>. The final text will be published as a book chapter. The formatting guidelines for the final version will be sent directly to the authors. Questions regarding short course submissions should be directed to <strong data-start=\"2638\" data-end=\"2660\"><a rel=\"noopener\" data-start=\"2640\" data-end=\"2658\">duarte@uffs.edu.br<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"\" data-start=\"2663\" data-end=\"2666\" \/>\n<h2 data-start=\"2668\" data-end=\"2714\"><strong data-start=\"2668\" data-end=\"2714\">Financial Support for Author Participation<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2716\" data-end=\"3227\">If funding is available, <strong data-start=\"2741\" data-end=\"2763\">one of the authors<\/strong> may receive financial support for travel and accommodation to present the short course. If there are insufficient resources to support all selected authors, the event organizers will establish criteria to allocate the available funds in a way that supports the largest number of proposals. Authors will be informed during the final version submission phase.
